Chapter 4. System Commands

In addition to managing resources directly from the FEP-4600, you will need to be
familiar with a variety of commands to manage some of the resources from a mainframe
console. Information is arranged by Host OS and connection type.

Operations in the zOS, OS/390, MVS Environment


ESCON CHPID Operations

Activating an ESCON CHPID:
You must issue this command from the Master Console for the LPAR. ‘xx’ represents the
CHPID number.

C F CHP(xx),ONLINE



Displaying Status of an ESCON CHPID:
This command can be used to display the status of the CHPID identified as ‘xx’.

Inactivating an ESCON CHPID:
This command is used to vary a CHPID offline. ‘xx’ represents the CHPID number.

C F CHP(xx),OFFLINE



ESCON PATH Operations

Activating an ESCON PATH:
This command is used to vary a path online. ‘yyyy’ represents the IODEVICE and ‘xx’
represents the CHPID.

PATH(yyyy,xx),ONLINE



Displaying an ESCON PATH:
This command can be used to display the current status of the ESCON paths included in
the identified CHPID. ‘xx’ represents the CHPID number.
