Special DeviceNet cables can be either thick cables or thin cables. The characteristics of
each type are given in the following table.

The maximum network length is determined by the type of cable, as shown in the following
table.

Using Thick Cable and Thin Cable Together

The line connecting two nodes located farthest from each other can use both thick and thin cables pro-
vided that the length of each cable satisfies the conditions in the following table.

Drop Line Length

The drop line length is the line length between a branch point on the trunk line to the farthest
node that is located on the drop line. The maximum drop line length is 6 m. A drop line can
be branched out into other drop lines.
