Paper Recommendations

Note the following suggestions when handling or selecting paper used with this
printer.

Loading paper

• Use only the recommended paper types. Print quality cannot be guaranteed

if other paper types are used.

• Do not use paper that has already been printed onto by other printers.
• If you load paper into the paper tray, confirm not to stack over the limit mark.
• If you load paper into Bypass Tray Type 270, confirm that the paper fits under

the side guide.

• If you load paper into the paper tray, confirm that print side is facing up.
• If you load paper into Bypass Tray Type 270, confirm that print side is facing

down.

Storing paper

Paper should always be stored properly. Improperly stored paper might result
in poor print quality, paper misfeeds, or printer damage.
Recommendations are as follows:
• Avoid storing paper in humid areas.
• Avoid exposing paper to direct sunlight.
• Store on a flat surface.
• Keep open reams of paper in the package in which the paper came.

Types of paper and other media

Plain Paper

• If you print on paper heavier than 105 g/m

2

(28 lb), use tray 2 or Bypass

Tray Type 270. The each tray can hold paper up to 157 g/m

2

(42 lb) in

weight.

• If you load paper heavier than 105 g/m

2

(28 lb) into tray 2, switch the lever

inside of the paper tray to "Non-Standard Paper" mode.

• If paper is curled or bent, straighten it before loading.
• If you print on paper for color, load it into tray 2 and do not stack paper

over the lower limit mark.
