2. Select the Enable iLO Remote Syslog check box.
3. Enter the following information:
•
Remote Syslog Port—The port number through which the Syslog server is listening.
The default value is 514.
•
Remote Syslog Server—The IP address, FQDN, IPv6 name, or short name of the server
running the Syslog service. This string can be up to 127 characters.
On Linux systems, system events are logged by a tool called syslog. This tool should be
installed on all Linux systems. You can set a syslog server on a remote system that will
act as a central logging system for iLOs. This way, if the iLO Remote Syslog feature is
enabled in iLO, it can send its logs to the syslog server.
4. Optional: Click Send Test Syslog to send a test message to the configured syslog server.
This button is available only when iLO Remote Syslog is enabled.
5. Click Apply to save the changes.
Disabling iLO Remote Syslog
1. Navigate to the Administration
→Management→Remote Syslog page, as shown in
Figure 55
(page 118) .
2. Clear the Enable iLO Remote Syslog check box.
3. Click Apply to save the changes.
Configuring Remote Support
Insight Remote Support Overview
HP has developed a service and support experience that helps you reduce risk. It integrates an
online, personalized dashboard (HP Insight Online), a support portal and mobile application (HP
Support Center Mobile), and 24x7 remote support (HP Insight Remote Support) for the consolidated
infrastructure.
When you use the embedded Remote Support functionality with an HP ProLiant Gen8 server, you
can choose from the following Insight Remote Support configuration options:
•
Direct Connect—Register a server to communicate directly to HP Insight Online without the
need to set up an HP Insight Remote Support centralized Hosting Device in your local
environment. HP Insight Online will be your primary interface for remote support information.
The Direct Connect Remote Support configuration is available in iLO 4 1.40 and later.
Figure 56 (page 120) shows the Direct Connect configuration with an HP ProLiant Gen8 server.
