Adding a license to a StoreVirtual VSA

The StoreVirtual VSA installer allows you to create StoreVirtual VSAs as trial storage systems which
you can use to create an HP StoreVirtual SAN. You can configure the StoreVirtual VSAs with the
maximum capacity and can then use those StoreVirtual VSAs in management groups and clusters
with the full set of advanced features, using a default 60–day evaluation period. The licenses you
obtain from the HP Software for Licensing site using the Entitlement Certificates enable the capacity
and features of the HP StoreVirtual VSA that you purchased. When you apply those licenses to the
individual StoreVirtual VSAs, they activate the purchased capacity and features, and turn off the
60–day evaluation clock.

Purchasing an upgrade license

If you apply licenses that do not cover the features you are using, or you extend the configuration
beyond that enabled by the licenses, you see a message that you need to purchase additional
licensing and a one-time 60-day extension to the evaluation period is granted. Contact the vendor
(usually HP or an HP partner) of your original license purchase to purchase an upgrade. Then
follow the instructions in

“Registering storage systems in a management group” (page 236)

to obtain

and apply the new licenses.

IMPORTANT:

Save the license information in a safe location as described in

“Saving license key

information” (page 238)
