systems is reported differently and zoning is uniquely handled, as described in

“Zoning” (page 246)

.

For all other Fibre Channel configuration standards, see the HP SAN Design Reference Guide.

Creating Fibre Channel connectivity

Two or more storage systems enabled for Fibre Channel must be added to a management group
to use Fibre Channel connectivity. A 10 GbE network connection is required.

Zoning

Configure the Fibre Channel zoning after the storage systems are added to a management group
if zoning by WWPNs. The WWNNs and WWPNs are assigned when the Fibre Channel-enabled
storage systems are added to a management group. The WWPNs are derived from these WWNNs.
If storage systems are removed from the management group for maintenance, they retain the same
WWNNs and WWPNs when they are returned to that management group.

NOTE:

The WWNNs and WWPNs are assigned to the management group. If the management

group is deleted and the Fibre Channel-enabled storage systems are added to a different
management group, their WWNNs and WWPNs will change.

Using MPIO with Fibre Channel

MPIO is required with HP StoreVirtual Storage Fibre Channel. Install the Microsoft MPIO on the
Fibre Channel host before assigning Fibre Channel volumes to servers. After installing Microsoft
MPIO, add the Device Hardware ID for HP LeftHand.

Adding the MPIO Device Hardware ID

1.

Open MPIO on the Fibre Channel host.

2.

Click Add on the MPIO Devices tab of the MPIO Properties application.

3.

Enter LEFTHANDP4000 disk in the Add MPIO Support dialog box.

4.

Click OK to close the dialog box.

5.

Click OK again to close MPIO Properties.

perform the following steps:

avoid volume availability issues
when using Fibre Channel

1.

Install the hotfix listed in

.

HP recommends rebooting the server before installing 2522766.

2.

Install the hotfix listed in

.

There is also another hotfix available for Microsoft cluster services that can supersede
KB 2522766. This hotfix addresses an issue in Microsoft clusters where a cluster
resource could unexpectedly end up in redirected state. This hotfix is not recommended
unless you experience an issue similar to what is outlined in the article found at
