5. Press the computer’s power switch.

a. Unlock the front bay access cover with the provided key (A).
b. Open the front bay access cover (B).
c. Press the power switch (C).

The computer performs certain actions every time it is started or reset. See

Restart the Computer on page 31

for what is done.

If your computer does not start or you notice other anomalies, refer to
Troubleshooting starting on

page 48

Restart the Computer

Use either of the following methods to restart your computer:

From the Start menu, choose Restart.
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL on the keypad.

During a restart, the computer does the following:

Clears the RAM.
Starts the POST.
Initializes peripheral devices such as drives and printers.
Loads the operating system.

Use the computer display to view the progress of the POST, the initialization of
accessory devices, and the start-up dialogs for the operating system that is
installed.
