10 Low-speed ATM configuration

Step 1

Run:

system-view

The system view appears.

Step 2

Run:

interface atm interface-number[.subinterface ]

The ATM interface or the sub-interface view appears.

Step 3

Run:

pvc { pvc-name vpi/vci | vpi/vci }

A PVC is created and the PVC view appears.

ED NOTE

In normal cases, the vci values 3 and 4 are reserved for special usage. Nortel recommends users to
not use these two values.

The values of vpi and vci cannot be 0 at the same time.

Step 4

Run:

encapsulation aal5-encap

The command configures the encapsulation type of the PVC as AAL5.

Step 5

Run:

map bridge virtual-ethernet interface-number

The command configures the PPPoEoA mapping on the PVC.

The AAL5 encapsulation type for PVC can be

aal5snap

,

aal5mux

,

aal5muxunstandard.

By default, the encapsulation type is

aal5snap

. You make the slot number of the ATM

interface to be in accordance with that of the virtual Ethernet interface.

ED NOTE

When you configure the sub interface on the main interface, the interval between running the shutdown

command and running the undo shutdown command on the main interface should be 15 seconds at
least.

Run the following commands to check the previous configuration.
