Installing Nisus Writer Pro

Installing Nisus Writer Pro is a simple process.

Install Nisus Writer Pro on your Macintosh

1. Make sure your Macintosh runs Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) or later.
2. Insert the CD into the disk drive or download the disk image.
3. Drag the Nisus Writer Pro and Thesaurus icons to the Applications folder of your Hard Disk.
4. Start Nisus Writer Pro.
5. Follow any additional instructions you may see in the CD or the disk image.

6. Drag the Nisus Writer Pro icon to your Dock. In that way it will be no more than one click away.

First Startup

When you first start Nisus Writer Pro you will see two or three windows:
The first asks if you want the application to check for updates (new versions) as it starts up.

If your working environment includes a persistent and fast Internet connection you should click
Yes. This enables you to automatically receive each new update as it is released. What you choose
here determines the preference set in the General preferences illustrated in Figure 127 and
described on page 117. If, later you wish to change this notification, you can do so in the
preferences.
If you downloaded the application from the Web it probably first appeared in your Downloads folder,
or, perhaps in the virtual hard disk image visible on your Desktop as illustrated in Figure 3.

If you are running Leopard or Snow Leopard or later (versions 10.5.x or later, of the Mac OS X), you
might, inadvertently start the application while it is still in the disk image or in the
