are required over long periods, the CEL-
3732/3 Mains Adaptor or the earlier CEL-
3732/2 Power Supply can power the
instrument (and a CEL filter set)t.

Damage caused by leaking batteries, use
of incorrect batteries, or failure to remove
internal batteries while the instrument is
being powered by an extenal supply
WILL NOT BE COVERED BY WAR-
RANTY.

Warning

A potentially hazardous
situation can occur if an
external power supply is
connected while the internal

batteries are still in place.
Instrument damage will occur
if operated on the CEL-262
(12 V) setting of a CEL-3732/2
Power supply.

1. Remove all batteries from the sound

level meter before it is connected.

2. Use the C4461/2 (2m) Cable to make

the connection with the power
supply.

3. Set the CEL-3732/3 to supply 6 V, or

adjust the CEL-3732/2 to the
CEL-160 setting

4. Switch both instruments ON.

The instruments are fully tested and the
accuracy verified in accordance with the
requirements of their specification before
they are dispatched from the factory. To
prepare an instrument for use, it is neces-
sary only to install the batteries and con-
nect the microphone and preamplifier.

4.1Battery Installation

A set of four standard AA size batteries is
required. It is recommended that manga-
nese alkaline IEC Type LR6 be used.

Rechargeable nickel cadmium batteries
may also be employed, but will give a
shorter duty cycle. Zinc carbon batteries
are NOT suitable.

The batteries are located in a compart-
ment reached by sliding open a cover
near the bottom of the right hand side of
the instrument.

Correct instrument polarity will be main-
tained when batteries are inserted in the
orientations shown in Figure 6. The slid-
ing cover should be removed and re-
placed carefully as it has four springs on it
to hold the batteries in place.

Having inserted a new set of batteries
the voltage may be checked by sliding
the ON-BAT-OFF switch to the “BAT” po-
sition.

Correctly inserted batteries in good condi-
tion should give a voltage between 5.8
and 6.2 V.
