YELLOW – Removing the disk will cause RAID degradation.

o

GREEN – Removing the disk will not affect the RAID.

Note: Whenever a disk is added or removed from the storage system, you must
click “Refresh” to update this page.

You can increase the amount of space allocated to shared folders without deleting the data in
the shared folders, provided there is enough space left on the hard drives.

To increase the amount of space for shared folders:

1. In the Administrator password text box, enter your password for logging in to the Manager.

2. Click “Expand Shared Storage”.

3. The Expand Shared Storage page (Figure 3-29) appears:

4. Select an option and enter the amount of space to add if necessary and click “OK”.

5. When the confirmation message appears, click “OK”.

6. After the unit has finished the expansion, the Home page will be displayed with the new

space distribution information.

Alternatively, you can change the disk configuration or decrease the amount of the storage
space that is allocated to the shared folders, but the information on the NAS will be erased.

Warning: Changing the disk configuration or percentage to allocate for shared
folders will delete all user information and all data on all the disks. Before you
change these settings, have all the users disconnect from all shared folders and
remove protection from all disks. When you are done, you must re-add all users,
create new shared folders, and have all users once again access the shared
folders and protect their disks.

To change the disk configuration or storage space allocation:

1. In the Administrator password text box, enter your password for logging in to the Manager.
