Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Server, or Advanced Server (Service Pack 4)

• Microsoft iSCSI Initiator 2.x (for information about downloading and installing this item, refer

to the next section, “Installing the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator.”)

• 20 MB free hard disk space
For information about downloading and installing the iSCSI Initiator 2.0, refer to the next section.

Note: DiskSafe Express requires the Intelligent Management Agent (IMA), which
is installed automatically if it is not already installed. IMA requires an additional 5
MB of free hard disk space (for both the application and associated log file data).

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is also required and installed automatically if it is
not already installed. The .NET Framework requires approximately 40 MB of
additional free hard disk space.

In addition, if your computer name includes any characters other than letters (A–Z or a–z),
numbers (0–9), hyphens (-), colons (:), or periods (.), you must change the computer name
before you use DiskSafe Express to protect a disk.

You must be logged in as an administer to install the DSE client and run it once. However, after
installing it and running it once, you can run the client as a normal user.

If you are using a firewall on the computer that you plan to protect, TCP port 11762 must be
open on the firewall to allow DiskSafe Express to communicate with the storage system.

To perform a recovery using the Recovery CD, you must also have a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
drive in your computer, and your BIOS must support booting from the CD.

To perform a recovery using PXE boot, both your network interface card and your BIOS must
support booting via PXE.
