Font compatibility
■ Type 1 fonts
The Elite 12ppm is compatible with Type 1 fonts. When using Adobe Type Manager ®
(ATM ® ), these PostScript language outline fonts appear crisp and smooth on the computer
screen, as well as the printed output. ATM is also used to create bitmapped font data at any
size from the Type 1 fonts. For more information on adding and removing Type 1 fonts,
refer to Adobe’s documentation.
■ TrueType fonts
The Elite 12ppm is compatible with TrueType fonts. TrueType is an advanced font tech-
nology that produces high-quality output on the screen as well as on printed output.
Macintosh
If you are using a TrueType font that is equivalent to an Elite 12ppm resident font, the Elite
12ppm automatically uses the resident font rather than downloading the TrueType font. If
you are using a TrueType font that is not equivalent to an Elite 12ppm resident font, the
TrueType font is automatically downloaded.
