Specifying the checksum

The PCR-1 can automatically calculate the checksum of a system exclusive message and embed
it in the message. In order to use this function, you must use the following procedure to specify
the starting location from which the checksum is calculated, and the location at which the
checksum is inserted. You can also select the type of checksum.
For an actual example, please read the Sys Ex.ASSIGN section

Press the

[CHECKSUM]

key before you input the byte at which checksum

calculation should begin.
The display will indicate “CSS” (Checksum Start).
If you press the

[CHECKSUM]

key once again, “CSS” (Checksum Start) will be cancelled.

Press the

[ENTER]

button.

3.

Continue inputting data.

Press the

[CHECKSUM]

key at the location where the checksum should be

inserted.
The display will indicate “CS1” (Checksum type 1).

[ENTER]

button.

Checksum types

There are two types of checksum, as follows.

Switching the type

If you want to switch to

type 2

, press the

[2]

key after you press

[CHECKSUM]

in step 4.

To switch back to

type 1

, press the

[1]

key.

This is the method used by Roland and most
other manufacturers

Select this if the method other than type 1 is
used
