When you turn on your Toshiba Pocket PC e830 for the first time each day
(or after 4 hours of inactivity), the Today screen displays. You can also
display it by tapping

and then Today. On the Today screen, you can

see at a glance important information for the day.

The following are some of the status icons you may see.

Using Programs

You can switch from one program to another by selecting it from the

menu. (You can customize which programs you see on this menu. For infor-
mation, see "Customizing settings" later in this chapter.) To access some
programs, tap

, Programs, and then the program name.

You can also switch to certain programs by pressing the program button
assigned to those programs. Your Toshiba Pocket PC e830 has program
buttons located on the front and left side of the device. The icons on the
buttons identify the programs they activate.

Status Icon

Meaning

Turns all sounds on and off

Main battery is charging

Main battery is low

Main battery is very low

Main battery is full

Connection is active

Connection is inactive

Synchronization is occurring

Notification that one or more instant messages were
received
Notification that one or more email messages were
received

Traffic Monitoring Utility (Toshiba Pocket PC e830W only)

If more notification icons need to be displayed than there
is room to display them, the Notification icon, , displays.
Tap the icon to view all notification icons.
