4 Configuring Business Copy Z

This chapter provides instructions for configuring BC Z.

Workflow for setting up Business Copy Z

Set up BC Z before you create the copy pair.

Use the following workflow to set up BC Z:

1.

(Optional) If you have created CGs, manage the CG IDs (see

“Workflow for managing CG

IDs for Business Copy Z” (page 31)

).

2.

Release the reserved mainframe consistency groups (see

“Releasing reserved mainframe

consistency groups” (page 33)

).

3.

(Optional) Enable the system options (see

“Enabling system options” (page 35)

).

Workflow for managing CG IDs for Business Copy Z

Prerequisite: You have used RAID Manager to create the CGs.

For more information about using RAID Manager to create CGs, see the HP XP7 RAID Manager
User Guide
and the HP XP7 RAID Manager Reference Guide.

Use the following workflow to manage CG IDs for BC Z using RWC:

1.

If you plan to use the CGs in BCM/IBM PPRC, in RWC, reserve the CGs for BC Z so that you
can perform tasks on the pairs in the group, such as CG pair-split. Otherwise, skip this step.

For more information about reserving CGs, see

“Reserving consistency groups” (page 32)

.

2.

Complete one of the following:

If you are using RWC and you have used BCM/IBM PPRC to create CGs, assign the
same CG ID to all of the BC Z pairs in the group.

You can use CTG ID 00 to 7F (or 0 to 127) for BC, BC Z, and FS. The XP7 storage system
exclusively uses CTG IDs 80 to FF (or 128 to 255) for FS.

NOTE:

If you did not specify the CG ID when you created the CG using RAID Manager,

the XP7 storage system assigns the CG ID.

If you are using RAID Manager, BCM, or IBM PPRC to run commands, create the BC Z
pair and assign it to a CG.

For more information about creating BC Z pairs and assigning the pair to a CG, see

“Creating BC Z pairs” (page 39)
