NOTE:

The pair can also be in the process of being Quick Split (“V-Split/SUSPVS” status).

3.

(Optional) If you are concerned about host I/O performance, check to make sure the I/O
load is light.

For more information about checking I/O performance-related information, see the HP XP7

4.

Resynchronize the pair.

Workflow for restoring BC Z pairs

Use the following workflow to restore BC Z pairs:

1.

Place the P-VOL offline.

2.

Split or suspend the pair.

If you plan to restore pairs using Reverse Copy, split or suspend the pairs sharing the same
P-VOL.

If the BC Z pair you plan to restore shares a volume with Cnt Ac-S Z or Cnt Ac-J Z, suspend
the Cnt Ac-S Z or Cnt Ac-J Z pair.

For more information about splitting BC Z pairs, see

“Splitting BC Z pairs” (page 50)

.

For more information about suspending pairs, see

“Suspending BC Z pair creation” (page 45)

.

3.

Restore the pair.

For more information about restoring pairs, see

“Resynchronizing or restoring BC Z pairs”

Resynchronizing or restoring BC Z pairs

Use this task to resynchronize or restore split or suspended pairs.

Running this command typically takes less time than resynchronizing suspended pairs
(“Suspend/SUSPER” status). Split pairs typically contain much less accumulated differential data
than the total amount of data in the P-VOL.

Prerequisites:

After performing a Quick Split, wait 20 seconds before a Normal Copy or Quick Resync
resynchronization, otherwise the operation might end abnormally.

If you are using RAID Manager to run commands, run the following command to resynchronize
split pairs (“Split/SUSPOP” status):
