Remote Web Console

Use RWC to complete the following:

Install the BC Z license key, which enables it.

Configure the XP7 storage system.

Perform the initial and update copy operations.

Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the XP7 storage system.

RWC communicates with the XP7’s service processor (SVP) over defined TCP/IP connections.RWC
is LAN-attached to XP7.

For more information about using RWC, see the HP XP7 Remote Web Console User Guide.

RAID Manager

RAID Manager is a tool that uses the command line interface to run commands that perform most
of the same tasks you can do with the RWC. You can run pair commands directly from a separate
open system host by using a configured open system command device, or RAID Manager commands
can be scripted on the open system host. RAID Manager does not provide any control or monitoring
capability directly from the mainframe operating environment.

For more information about using RAID Manager, see the HP XP7 RAID Manager User Guide.

Consistency groups

Use a consistency group (CG) to perform tasks on the BC Z pairs in the group at the same time,
including consistency group pair-split tasks. Using a CG to perform tasks ensures the consistency
of the pair status for all pairs in the group.

Volume pairs

A volume pair consists of a P-VOL and an S-VOL. You can pair a P-VOL with a maximum of three
S-VOLs.

Because S-VOLs are updated asynchronously, the P-VOL and S-VOLs may not be identical. Splitting
or deleting a pair allows the host access to the S-VOL.
