Select one from the DKCs (DKC-1 to DKC-4). To register journals of the supervisor DKC,
proceed to Step 9.

Enter the storage system serial number in the S/N box. If the serial number is already displayed
and unchangeable, you do not need to enter it.

Enter the LDKC number. If the LDKC number is already displayed and unchangeable, you do
not need to enter it.

Select the Controller ID.

Specify the LDKC number, CU number, and the LDEV number of the remote command device.
If the LDKC number, CU number, and the LDEV number are already specified and
unchangeable, you do not need to specify them.

10. On the lower half of the dialog box, select the journal or groups that you want to register from

the JNL list on the left and click Add. The selected journals move to the JNL list on the right.

If the JNL list on the right contains a journal that you do not want to register, select the journal
and click Cancel.

11. Select a mirror ID from the Mirror ID list. If a mirror ID is already specified and unchangeable,

you do not need to select it.

12. If needed, repeat Step 4 to Step 10.
13. Click Set to close the Add Journal dialog box.
14. In the Preview list, check your settings. To change a setting, right-click and select Modify. To

delete a setting, right-click and select Delete.

15. When satisfied, click Apply.

If an error occurs during the operation, right-click the error code in the right-most column and
select Error Detail. An error message displays.

Splitting, restoring, releasing pairs in an EXCTG

With Business Continuity Manager, you can split, restore, and release all pairs in an EXCTG
collectively.

Pair-split operation

When you perform a pair-split operation in an EXCTG, you have the choice of specifying Flush or
Purge for Suspend Mode.

With Flush, the pairs in the EXCTG are split with the consistency of the data update sequence
maintained.

With Purge, consistency of the data update sequence is not maintained within the EXCTG,
but within each journal. With Purge, the pair-split operation is completed faster than with
Flush.

NOTE:

When you split all pairs in a specific journal in an EXCTG, you cannot use the REVERSE

option of the Business Continuity Manager YKSUSPND command.

Operations for a specific journal

When you split, restore, or release all pairs in a specific journal in an EXCTG, the supervisor DKC
executes arbitration processing on the other journals.

For example, in

Figure 14 (page 55)

, if you collectively split all pairs that belong to journal 1, the

supervisor DKC executes arbitration processing on journals 2 and 3, and therefore consistency of
data update sequence is maintained only within the primary systems 2 and 3 and the secondary
systems 2 and 3. If you restore pairs in journal 1, the supervisor DKC executes arbitration processing
on journals 1 and 3.
