Workflow for accelerating the pair deletion process

You can shorten the time that the pair is in the process of being deleted (“SMPL(PD)” status).

Complete the following workflow to accelerate the process of deleting an FS pair:

1.

Delete the snapshot data (see

“Resynchronizing Fast Snap pairs” (page 83)

).

The pair is resynchronized (“PAIR” status).

2.

Delete the FS pair (see

“Deleting Fast Snap pairs” (page 85)

).

Releasing Fast Snap pairs

Releasing FS pairs deletes the snapshot data, which are stored with the FS pair, from the pool.
Release the FS pair to delete the snapshot data you no longer need.

If snapshot data containing shared data exists, you can release the FS pairs but you cannot delete
the snapshot data from the pool. Releasing FS pairs that have snapshot data containing shared
data deletes the snapshot data from the pool.

Delete the FS pair (see

“Deleting Fast Snap pairs” (page 85)

).

Workflow for removing snapshot groups

Deleting all of the pairs in the snapshot group deletes the snapshot group. Remove snapshot groups
before performing the next pair task.

NOTE:

You can use RWC only to reference consistency and snapshot groups and to remove

snapshot groups. You cannot use RWC to delete consistency groups.

1.

Delete all of the FS pairs that are assigned to the snapshot group to which it is assigned.

For more information about deleting FS pairs, see

“Deleting Fast Snap pairs” (page 85)
