Example of an XP Continuous Access Snapshot File

The following is an explanation of the fields:

If the pound or gate symbol (#) is added to the end of the device ID (00:00:3C #, for example),
the LDEV that the number indicates is an external volume. For details on external volumes, see
the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 External Storage Software User's Guide.

If an X mark is added to the end of the device ID (00:00:3C X, for example), the LDEV that
the number indicates is a Thin Provisioning virtual volume. For details on virtual volumes, see
the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Thin Provisioning Software User's Guide.

The host group name of an LU on the primary site is indicated up to 8 characters.

To create and export (download) an XP Continuous Access snapshot file:

1.

After completing the desired XP Continuous Access operations, open the Display Filter dialog
box (see

“Display Filter” (page 69)

), select the desired options, and then close the Display

Filter dialog box.

Click the Export button on the upper right of the volume list. When a confirmation message
appears, click OK to create a new snapshot file, or click Cancel to cancel your request to
create a new snapshot file.

3.

If you clicked OK, the XP Continuous Access snapshot file is created, and then the dialog box
for saving the snapshot file is displayed.

4.

To save the snapshot data, enter the desired name for the snapshot file, and click OK . A
completion message for exporting the snapshot data is displayed.

5.

Click OK to close the message box.

Creating XP Continuous Access Pairs

The Paircreate dialog box (see

Figure 48 (page 124)

and

Figure 49 (page 124)

) allows you to create

new XP Continuous Access pairs and set the initial copy options and pair options for the new pairs.
To open the Paircreate dialog box, click the Pair Operation tab, select a CU, port, or host group
from the tree, select the desired MCU CU from the list, right-click, and click the Paircreate command.
Select the desired copy mode (sync or async) for the new pair(s).
