If an X mark is added to the end of the device ID (00:00:3C X, for example), the LDEV that
the number indicates is a Thin Provisioning virtual volume. For details on virtual volumes, see
the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Thin Provisioning Software User's Guide.

P-VOL Fence Level (Sync only): If desired, you can change the fence level of the pair(s). See

“Pair Options” (page 128)

for further information on the fence level pair option.

Initial Copy Parameters (see

“Initial Copy Options” (page 127)

for further information on these

options):

Copy Pace (from 1 to 15): Select the number of the tracks 1-15 for the resync operation(s)
(default = 15).

Priority (from 1 to 256): Set the desired priority (1-256) (scheduling order) for the resync
operations (default = 32).

Change attribute to ESAM: Select whether an XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair is
resynchronized as an ESAM pair.

Yes: An XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair is resynchronized as an ESAM pair.

No: An XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair is resynchronized as an XP Continuous
Access Synchronous pair.

These options can be specified only in the case of an XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair.
Change attribute to ESAM cannot be specified in the following cases.

High Availability Manager is not installed.

Quorum disk ID is not registered.

The option except Never is selected for P-VOL Fence Level.

The option except CU Free is used for RCU of the pair.

Quorum Disk ID: Select the quorum disk ID to use for the ESAM pair. The quorum disk ID and
the RCU information (serial number, controller ID, and model name) are displayed in the drop
down list.

These options can be specified only when Yes is selected for Change attribute to ESAM.

Asynchronous Parameters (Async only):

Resume Range (default = Group):

Group: All pairs in the same consistency group(s) as the selected pair(s) will be
resynchronized. You must select only one pair in each consistency group. (For the former

version of XP Continuous Access, you could only resynchronize pairs in one group at a
time.)

LU: Only the selected XP Continuous Access Asynchronous pair(s) will be resynchronized.

For the LU resynchronize range setting, if you select pairs with PAIR status and other than
PAIR status in the same consistency group, unexpected suspend may occur during the
pair operations (Pairsplit-r, Pairsplit-S, and Pairresync) under heavy I/O load conditions.
You can estimate whether or not the I/O load is heavy from the rate of sidefile cache
(around 30%) or, if you cannot see the sidefile cache rate, from the frequency of host
I/O. The resynchronize pair operations should be performed under light I/O load
conditions.

Error Level: If desired, you can change the error level of the pair(s). This option is available
only when the LU Resume Range option is selected.

If an MCU or RCU is powered off and its backup batteries are fully discharged while XP Continuous
Access pairs are suspended, the P-VOL/S-VOL differential data will not be retained. In this unlikely
case, the MCU/RCU will mark all tracks for all split or suspended XP Continuous Access volumes
