P-VOL: Displays the port number, GID, LUN, CLPR number, and CLPR name of the selected
LU(s). If you selected more than one P-VOL, the P-VOL with the lowest LUN is displayed.

If the pound or gate symbol (#) is added to the end of the device ID (00:00:3C #, for example),
the LDEV is an external volume. For details on external volumes, see the HP StorageWorks
XP24000/XP20000 External Storage Software User's Guide
.

If an X mark is added to the end of the device ID (00:00:3C X, for example), the LDEV that
the number indicates is a Thin Provisioning virtual volume. For details on virtual volumes, see
the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Thin Provisioning Software User's Guide.

S-VOL: Allows you to select the S-VOL(s) for the new pair(s). If you selected more than one
P-VOL, select the S-VOL for the P-VOL being displayed. The S-VOLs for the rest of the P-VOLs
are automatically assigned according to the LUN. For example, if you select three P-VOLs and
select LUN001 as the S-VOL for the first P-VOL, the S-VOLs for the two other P-VOLs will be
LUN002 and LUN003.

You can select the port number from the drop-down list, or enter it directly. When you enter
the port number directly, you can specify it with two characters, for example, 1A for CL1-A.
You can also enter the port number in both lowercase and uppercase characters.

When creating more than one pair at a time, make sure that the S-VOLs to be assigned
automatically are available. If an S-VOL is not available, you will have to select the S-VOL
individually.

RCU: Select the RCU for the XP Continuous Access pair(s) being created. The RCUs that have
been added to the current MCU are displayed. In the drop-down list, the serial number, LDKC
number, Controller ID, model name, Path Group ID, and path type are displayed for CU Free.
On the other hand, the serial number, LDKC number, CU number, SSID, and path type are
displayed for a CU other than CU Free. The RCU must be the same for all pairs being created
during one operation.

P-VOL Fence Level (sync only): Select the fence level for the new pair(s) (default = Never). The
fence level determines the conditions under which the MCU will reject write operations to the
P-VOL.

Never: The P-VOL will never be fenced.

Data: The P-VOL will be fenced when the MCU cannot successfully execute an update
copy operation for any reason.

Status: The P-VOL will be fenced only if the MCU is not able to change the S-VOL status
to suspended when an update copy operation fails.

Initial Copy Parameters: Select the initial copy options for the new pair(s).

These options cannot be changed after a pair has been added.

Initial Copy: Entire Volume = copy all P-VOL data to the S-VOL; None = do not copy any
P-VOL data to the S-VOL. The default setting is Entire Volume.

IMPORTANT:

The user must ensure that the P-VOL and S-VOL are already identical

when using the None setting.

Copy Pace: Desired maximum number of tracks to be copied at one remote I/O (1–15)
during the initial copy operation. The default setting is 15.

Priority: Priority (scheduling order) of the initial copy operations (1-256). The default
setting is 32.

If the time out error occurs during the Paircreate operation, the copy operation may not be
executed correctly in the order that you have set with the Priority parameter. The time out error
may be caused by the CU configuration or a remote copy path error. Review the error, release
the pair with the error, and then retry the Paircreate operation.
