Glossary
This glossary defines terms used in this guide or related to this product and is not
a comprehensive glossary of computer terms.
application
A program running on a host or server that reads and writes data onto volumes.
application administrator
See Host Administrator
customer
See Storage Consumer
customer Group
A visual and convenient grouping of customers that helps organize large numbers of customers
in HP OpenView Storage Provisioner.
host
A server on which applications are run and contains host bus adapters that connect it to the
SAN. It reads and writes data onto volumes that are visible through its host bus adapters. The
host connects to a storage utility with paths.
host administrator
The person assigned to perform host and application management in the environment owned by
the Storage Consumer.
host group
A visual and convenient grouping of hosts that helps to organize large numbers of hosts in HP
OpenView Storage Provisioner.
HP Openview Storage Provisioner for Consumers
An application used by Host Administrators to provision storage requirements. It is accessible
on the HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance on port 7777 with an assigned username
and password. It does not provide access to other Management Appliance applications.
HP Openview Storage Provisioner for Providers
An application used by Storage Administrators to set up the provisioning environment for
storage consumers. It is accessible through the Management Appliance on port 2301.
