Virtual LVI

You can assign Virtual LVI volumes to BC Z pairs, provided that the T-VOL has the same capacity
as the S-VOL.

Auto LUN

You can assign the following BC Z volumes to Auto LUN migration volumes:

L1 P-VOL with up to two S-VOLs.

L2 P-VOL with one S-VOL.

Reserved volumes.

To assign or reserve BC Z volumes to Auto LUN migration volumes, complete the following:

1.

Delete the BC Z pairs.

2.

Unreserve the reserved BC Z S-VOLs.

3.

Assign the BC Z volumes to Auto LUN migration volumes.

You cannot use BC Z volumes for destination volumes.

You cannot use migration, destination, and reserved volumes of Auto LUN for BC Z pair operations.
To perform BC Z operations, you must first release the Auto LUN volumes.

You can assign BC Z volumes as Auto LUN volumes, with the following restrictions:

If the BC Z S-VOL is paired with three T-VOLs, you must delete the pair before migrating the
volumes with Auto LUN.

If you want to assign BC Z volumes as destination volumes of a migration using Auto LUN, or
reserve BC Z volumes for Auto LUN, you must delete the BC Z volumes or un-reserve them
before using Auto LUN.

If you assign a BC Z S-VOL that is paired with three T-VOLs as a migration volume, or assign
BC Z volumes to volumes other than Auto LUN migration volumes, the command is rejected.

If you split a BC Z pair in which the volumes are assigned as migration volumes, migration
of those volumes is canceled.

Volume Retention

Access attributes and Business Copy Z operations

You can create BC Z pairs using volumes for which you set access attributes with Volume Retention.
However, depending on the access attribute, you cannot perform BC Z pair operations and reserve
attribute change operations.

The following tables show whether BC Z pair operations and reserve attribute change operations
can be performed for volumes for which access attributes are set with Volume Retention.

You can also set access attributes for BC Z P-VOLs, S-VOLs, and reserve volumes. See the following
tables for BC Z pair operations and reserve attribute change operations after access attribute
setting as well.

NOTE:

The Volume Retention access attributes of volumes do not change as a result of BC Z

operations. Even though the Quick Restore operation reverses the P-VOL and S-VOL, the access
attributes of the P-VOL and S-VOL are not reversed.
