Volumes types and functions

1.

The volume can be used as a Cnt Ac-J pair volume for delta resync.

2.

Cnt Ac-J pair must be created first, otherwise No.

3.

For information on Auto LUN, contact HP Technical Support .

4.

Cnt Ac-J pair status must be other than COPY or PAIR to use the P-VOL as a source volume and perform volume
migration. The migration operation stops if Cnt Ac-J pair status changes to COPY or PAIR.

5.

The volume can be used as an S-VOL only when you restore a Cnt Ac-J pair or perform the horctakeover operation,
though even in these cases, it cannot be used in a pair for a delta resync operation

6.

The volume cannot be used as the Cnt Ac-J P-VOL if the specified journal was registered when 2DC Cascade was
enabled.

7.

A volume shared by two Cnt Ac-J pairs in the 3 Cnt Ac-J DC multi-target or cascade configuration cannot be used
for this function. Also, a volume that is already used for this function cannot be shared by two Cnt Ac-J pairs.

The following topics clarify key information regarding shared volumes.

NOTE:

Continuous Access Synchronous and Business Copy volumes are used extensively with

Continuous Access Journal. See

“Configurations with Continuous Access Synchronous” (page 141)

and

“Configurations with Business Copy” (page 154)

for more information.

Cache Residency

You can perform Cache Residency operations on a Continuous Access Journal pair’s P-VOL and
S-VOL.

Data Retention

You can create a Continuous Access Journal pair using volumes that have been assigned the access
attribute by the Data Retention. However, you cannot specify a volume with the "S-VOL Disable"
attribute as a Continuous Access Journal S-VOL.
The following table shows whether the access attribute can be changed or referenced.
