To release a remote command device which is assigned to a mirror, follow the procedure below.
This operation can be executed per mirror:
1.

Ensure that the Remote Web Console main window is in Modify mode. For detailed information
about how to do this, see the HP XP P9000 Remote Web Console User Guide.

2.

Ensure that the Journal Operation window is open.

3.

In the tree, select a master journal or a restore journal from below Registered > LDKC00.

4.

From the mirrors, select and right-click the mirror that you want to release the assigned remote
command device.

5.

Select Mirror > Release R-Cmd Dev on the pop up menu.

6.

Review your settings in the Preview list in the Journal Operation window.

To modify a setting, right click and select Modify.

To cancel a setting, right click and select Delete.

Click Apply to release the remote command device from the mirror. If an error occurs, the
error code appears in the right-most column of the Preview list. To view detailed information
about the error, right click the error code and select Error Detail.
See the list in the Journal Operation window whether the remote command device is released
from the mirror or not. If the remote command device is not assigned, the column of the remote
command device is blank.

2 Data center configuration

In a 2DC configuration, update data is transferred from the Continuous Access Synchronous P-VOL
to the Continuous Access Journal master journal volume located in the intermediate site, and then
to the Cnt Ac-J S-VOL in the remote siet.
Though there are three sites, data is not copied to the Cnt Ac-S S-VOL in the intermediate site, only
the journal volume. Thus it is called, “2 data center”, or 2DC.

The Cnt Ac-J S-VOL contains the same data as the Cnt Ac-S P-VOL. If failure occurs, business tasks
are taken over using the Cnt Ac-J S-VOL.
The master journal in the intermediate site is registered with the 2DC Cascade setting enabled.
This setting prevents host data from being written to the Cnt Ac-J P-VOL.
Drive capacity can be minimized using the virtual volume of Thin Provisioning (THP V-VOL) as the
data volume in the intermediate site. The THP V-VOL is associated with the pool volume, which
has a smaller capacity and thus lowers drive capacity. For information on THP V-VOLs, see HP
P9000 Provisioning for Open Systems User Guide
.

Prerequisite information for 2DC configuration

P9500 must be installed at the local, Cnt Ac-S intermediate, and Cnt Ac-J remote sites.

RAID Manager is recommended at all sites. If the intermediate site is not connected to a host,
a remote command device is required. See HP P9000 RAID Manager User Guide for more
information.

Remote Web Console is required at all sites.
