LUN Expansion
•
The capacity and configuration of LUSE volumes assigned to a Continuous Access Journal
S-VOL must be the same as the P-VOL. For example, if the P-VOL is a LUSE volume in which
1-GB, 2-GB, 3-GB volumes are combined in this order, the S-VOL must be a LUSE volume in
which 1-GB, 2-GB, 3-GB volumes are combined in the same order.

Continuous Access Journal-supported RAID groups RAID1, RAID5, and RAID6 can coexist in
the LUSE volume.
•
To make a Continuous Access Journal pair’s P-VOL and S-VOL into LUSE volumes, the pair
must be deleted and the volumes’ status returned to SMPL. For more information about LUSE,
see the HP XP P9000 Provisioning for Open Systems User Guide.
LUN Manager
•
LUN Manager operations do not affect Continuous Access Journal operations. Volumes that
are under secure ports and/or are assigned to host groups can also be assigned to Continuous
Access Journal pairs. Volumes that are assigned to Continuous Access Journal pairs can be
protected by LUN Manager.
•
Continuous Access Journal S-VOLs cannot be accessed by any UNIX® or PC server host except
when the pair is split.
Fast Snap and Snapshot
Continuous Access Journal pair volumes can be shared with Fast Snap (FS) and Snapshot (SS)
P-VOLs; however, there are limitations on how they can be used together.
•
A Cnt Ac-J P-VOL or S-VOL can be used as the FS or SS P-VOL.
•
A Cnt Ac-J P-VOL or S-VOL that is part of a delta resync configuration with Continuous Access
Synchronous can also be used as a FS or SS P-VOL.
•
A FS or SS P-VOL can be used as a Cnt Ac-J S-VOL that is in a single Cnt Ac-J pair or part of
a delta resync configuration; but the Cnt Ac-J pair must be created first.
