4.

On the secondary system, create a Continuous Access Synchronous pair. The data flow is
from secondary to primary sites.

5.

Do one of the following:

- If using RAID Manager: On the primary system, execute the RAID Manager horctakeover
command on the S-VOL on the primary system. This reverses the P-VOL/S-VOL relationship;
the S-VOL on the primary system now becomes the P-VOL.

- If using Remote Web Console: On the secondary system, release the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.

6.

On the primary system, delete the quorum disk ID.

If the quorum disk ID cannot be deleted due to a failure disk, forcibly delete the quorum disk
by following the procedure described in

“Forcibly deleting a quorum disk ID” (page 43)

.

7.

On the secondary system, delete the quorum disk ID.

8.

On the primary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk. If the connection to the quorum disk cannot be released due to the failure of the quorum
disk, skip the Disconnect External Volumes operation.

9.

On the secondary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk. If the connection to the quorum disk cannot be released due to the failure of the quorum
disk, skip the Disconnect External Volumes operation.

10. Replace and format the quorum disk.
11. On the secondary system, perform the Reconnect External Volumes command on the quorum

disk.

12. On the primary system, perform the Reconnect External Volumes command on the quorum

disk.

13. On the primary system, add the quorum disk ID.
14. On the secondary system, add the quorum disk ID.
15. Do one of the following:

- If using RAID Manager: On the primary system, perform the Pairsplit-r operation to split the
Continuous Access Synchronous pair. When the operation is completed, use Remote Web
Console to perform the Pairresync operation to change the Continuous Access Synchronous
pair to an ESAM pair.

- If using Remote Web Console: On the primary system, perform the Paircreate(ESAM) command
to create the ESAM pair.

16. On both the primary and secondary systems, make sure that the pair volume's Type field is

ESAM.

17. Use the multipath software to vary the owner path online.
18. Restart I/O.

Deleting a quorum disk ID

You can delete a quorum disk ID when no ESAM pairs are using the quorum disk. When the ID
is deleted, the quorum disk is no longer associated with the pair and it becomes a normal external
volume.

Prerequisite information:

The operation must be performed on both primary and secondary systems. The procedures
are the same for both systems.

The quorum disk must not be in use by any ESAM pair.

Make sure to delete the same ID from the primary and secondary systems.
