Procedure 20 To delete a quorum disk ID:

1.

Access an MCU or RCU in Remote Web Console and click Actions > Remote Copy >
Continuous Access Synchronous > Quorum Disk Operation. The Quorum Disk Operation
window opens.

2.

Make sure that you are in the modify mode.

3.

In the quorum ID list, right-click the quorum disk ID that you want to delete, then click Delete
Quorum Disk ID.

4.

Confirm the operation in the Preview list, then click Apply.

If the quorum disk ID cannot be deleted, a failure might have occurred in the quorum disk. Perform
one of the following:

Recover from the failure, then perform the delete operation again.

Forcibly delete the quorum disk.

Forcibly deleting a quorum disk ID

You can forcibly delete a quorum disk ID when access to the disk is blocked due to a failure in
either the disk or path. This is done by turning a system option ON and then forcibly deleting the
disk. This causes the disk to become a normal external volume.

Procedure 21 To forcibly delete a quorum disk:

1.

On the primary system, release all ESAM pairs using the quorum disk that will be forcibly
deleted.

2.

Call HP Technical Support and ask them to turn ON the appropriate system option on the
storage system that cannot access the quorum disk.

3.

On the primary and secondary system, delete the quorum disk ID from the Continuous Access
Synchronous/Quorum Disk Operation window in Remote Web Console.

4.

On the primary and secondary system, make sure that the ID is correctly deleted. If you deleted
a wrong ID by mistake, register the ID again.

5.

Call HP Technical Support and ask them to turn OFF the system option.

Recovering an accidently deleted quorum disk

If you forcibly deleted a quorum disk by mistake, you can recover the quorum disk using the
following procedure. The procedure varies according to whether the P-VOL or S-VOL was receiving
host I/O when the disk was forcibly deleted.

The following procedures can be performed using RAID Manager and Remote Web Console, or
only Remote Web Console. When either one can be used, be aware that RAID Manager is faster.

Procedure 22 To recover a quorum disk when the P-VOL was receiving host I/O:

1.

Vary the host-to-S-VOL path offline using the multipath software.

2.

Release all pair(s) that use the forcibly-deleted quorum disk.

3.

Make sure the quorum disk ID is deleted from both primary and secondary systems.

4.

On the primary and secondary system, add the quorum disk ID.

5.

On the primary system, create the ESAM pair.

6.

On both the primary and secondary systems, make sure that the pair volume's Type field is
ESAM.

Procedure 23 To recover a quorum disk when the S-VOL was receiving host I/O:

1.

Stop the I/O from the host.

2.

Release all pair(s) using the forcibly-deleted quorum disk.

3.

Make sure the quorum disk ID is deleted from both primary and secondary systems.
