3.

On the primary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.

4.

On the secondary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.

5.

Power off the quorum disk.

6.

Power on the quorum disk.

7.

On the secondary system, perform the Reconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.

8.

On the primary system, perform the Reconnect External Volumes command on the quorum
disk.

9.

On the secondary system, resynchronize the pair.

10. On the secondary system, make sure the P-VOL status is PAIR.
11. Using multipath software, vary the owner path online.
12. On the primary system, perform the Pairresync -swaps command on the S-VOL. This reverses

the copy direction so that it is again from primary system P-VOL to secondary system S-VOL.

13. On the primary system, make sure P-VOL and S-VOL status is PAIR.
14. If the non-owner path is offline, vary it online using the multipath software.

Planned outage of primary system, quorum disk

Use the following procedure to perform a planned outage of the primary storage system and the
quorum disk.

Procedure 26 To power off/on the primary system, quorum disk:

1.

Both P-VOL and S-VOL must be in PAIR status.

2.

Using multipath software, vary the owner path offline.

3.

Using multipath software, make sure that host I/O switches to the non-owner path (a failure
occurred)

4.

On the primary system, make sure that P-VOL status is PSUS.

5.

On the secondary system, make sure that S-VOL status is SSWS.

6.

On the secondary system, perform the Disconnect External Volumes on the quorum disk.

7.

Power off the primary system.

8.

Power off the quorum disk.

9.

Power on the quorum disk.

10. Power on the primary system.

11. On the secondary system, perform the External Storage Reconnect External Volumes command

on the quorum disk.

12. On the secondary system, perform the Pairresync -swaps command on the S-VOL.
13. On the secondary system, make sure that P-VOL and S-VOL status is PAIR.
14. Using multipath software, vary the owner path online.
15. On the primary system, make sure that S-VOL status (original P-VOL) is SSWS.
16. On the secondary system, make sure that P-VOL status (original S-VOL) is PSUS.
17. On the primary system, perform the Pairresync -swaps command on the primary system

S-VOL.

18. On the primary system, make sure that P-VOL and S-VOL are reversed to their original pair

configuration and that status is PAIR.

19. If the non-owner path is offline, vary it online using the multipath software.

1. If you vary the owner path offline during I/O processing, the multipath software may display a message saying that

the path is offline due to a path failure. In this case, you can ignore the message.

2. Skip this step when you power off the primary system only.

3. When the host operating system is Windows, the multipath software may return a host-to-P-VOL path failure when you

power on the primary system. In this case, you can ignore the message. This happens because ESAM blocks access to

the primary system after the plug and play function automatically recovers the owner path to online.
