3 LUN Expansion operations

Use spreadsheets in LUSE to retrieve volume information and create and release LUSE volumes.
You use CLI in LUSE to process spreadsheets.

LUN Expansion feature spreadsheet tasks

Spreadsheet templates for the following tasks are provided with RWC:

Creating LUSE volumes.

Retrieving information about logical volumes (LDEV) that can be combined into LUSE volumes.

Identifying LDEVs that have been part of LUSE volumes.

Releasing LUSE volumes.

Prerequisites for using spreadsheets in LUN Expansion

Before using spreadsheets in LUSE, ensure you have met the following prerequisites:

The CLI and accompanying third-party files are installed.

You have the appropriate permissions.

All resource group IDs that are set to the storage system are assigned to the user ID referenced
in the user authentication file of the RWC CLI.

Workflow for CLI-based spreadsheets in LUN Expansion

Use the following workflow to process CLI-based spreadsheets in LUSE:
1.

Make a copy the spreadsheet template from the tools folder and save it with a unique name
to a working folder or the desktop. For more information on locating the tools folder, see

“Copying CLI tools” (page 10)

2.

Do the following until no errors exist:

Edit the spreadsheet. For more information about editing spreadsheets, see

“Editing

CFL-based spreadsheets in LUN Manager” (page 24)

Validate the spreadsheet. For more information about validating spreadsheets, see

“Validating CLI-based spreadsheets in LUN Expansion” (page 15)

3.

On the RWC system, run the spreadsheet. For more information on how to run a spreadsheet,

“Running CLI-based spreadsheets in LUN Expansion” (page 16)
