To specify non-OPEN-V emulation types:
•
If the capacity of the external volume is equal to or larger than the base LDEV capacity, specify
the base data area capacity. Make sure that the external volume capacity is greater than or
equal to the total capacity of the base LDEV capacity for all the LDEVs.
•
If the capacity of the external volume is smaller than the base LDEV capacity, create one or
less LDEV. Find the capacity using the following equation:
LDEV capacity = floor[(External volume capacity – Control information
area capacity) ÷ Cylinder capacity]× Cylinder capacity
In the equation, floor indicates that the value enclosed in brackets must be rounded down to
the nearest whole number.
Use the following numbers for cylinder capacity:
For 3380 mainframe volumes: 1,440 blocks
For 3390 mainframe volumes: 1,740 blocks
For open volumes other than OPEN-V: 1,440 blocks

Mapping an external volume with one LDEV
Use the ExternalStorage_AddVolumeSetting2_def_.spd template to create an LDEV in
an external volume. LDEV capacity is not specified. The LDEV you create has the same capacity
as the external volume. You can also use the [AddVolumeSetting2] tag when you use existing
data in the external volume after mapping.
The system creates the LDEV with the following settings:

LDEV capacity: the same capacity as the external volume*
•
Emulation type: OPEN-V
•
Cache mode: Disable
•
Inflow control: Disable
