4.8

LOWER BOOM

Disassembly

1.

Remove the main boom.

2.

Support the weight of the lower boom assembly.

3.

Remove the pin securing the lower boom to the turnta-
ble.

4.

Lift the lower boom assembly from the turntable. Lower
the assembly onto a block.

5.

Remove the hydraulic hoses, electrical cables, and
clamps from the timing link.

6.

Remove the pin securing the lift cylinder to the upright.
Remove the lift cylinder.

7.

Remove the rear upper pin that secures the lower boom
section to the upright. Lift the lower boom section
slightly and place a block under the lower boom section
for support. Remove the pin securing the timing link to
the boom upright and remove the timing link.

8.

Remove the pin securing the lower boom section to the
upright. Remove the lower boom section.

9.

Remove the pin securing the timing link to the upright.
Remove the timing link.

Assembly

NOTE:

Note: Make sure the upright is supported at all times by an
adequate lifting device.

1.

Use a block to allow the upright to sit level during the
assembly process. Set the upright on the block.

2.

Install the timing link and secure in place with the
attaching hardware.

3.

Install the lower boom and secure in place with the
attaching hardware. It may help to place a block under
the front of the lower boom.

4.

Install the timing link and secure in place with the
attaching hardware.

5.

Rest the timing link against the upright and the lower
boom against the tension link.

6.

Install the lift cylinder and secure it in place with the
attaching hardware.

7.

Route the hydraulic hoses and electrical cables around
the timing link and secure in place with clamps and
straps.

8.

Attach an adequate lifting device to the lower boom
assembly and install it in the turntable.

9.

Secure the lower boom to the turntable with the attach-
ing hardware.
