6.2 Troubleshooting

No LED is on after power up

u

Check the power supply.

´

All LEDs are on. No call is currently in progress.

u

2N® SmartGate UMTS is in the special PCManager-based programming

mode - exit the PCManager to reset SmartGate UMTS

u

Try to switch 2N® SmartGate UMTS off and on, the LEDs should go off in

3s and signal the status of SmartGate UMTS

2N® SmartGate UMTS does not register to UMTS/GSM

u

Check the SIM card.

u

Check the PIN.

u

Check the antenna connection.

u

Select a place with a good UMTS/GSM signal.

´

No tone can be heard after line off-hook

u

Check the telephone line connection.

u

2N® SmartGate UMTS is not initialized properly upon start (approx. 10s

after power up).

u

2N® SmartGate UMTS is not supplied with power.

´

2N® SmartGate UMTS keeps transmitting a tone during dialing, not receiving

the dialing

u

Select the correct dialing type (DTMF or pulse).

´

Voice disturbance on telephone lines during UMTS/GSM call

u

Check signal strength using PCManager monitor. Place 2N® SmartGate

UMTS to place with good UMTS/GSM signal.

u

Check distance between telephone lines and SmartGate UMTS’s antenna.

Distance between antenna and other telecommunication systems should

be as long as possible.

u

If there are still problems, use the antenna with coax cable.
