Temperature control for servo motors

You must determine the actual winding temperature at a surface temperature > 140 °C:
ƒ Measuring method: 4-phase resistance measurement at motor power terminal
ƒ The resistance measurement must be performed as quickly as possible after

switching off and stopping the servo motor.

Procedure
1. Unplug power connector X10, with terminal box design disconnect power supply

between inverter and motor.

2. Measure the resistance between the following contacts or terminals:

– Connector X10:

Contacts 4↔5, 5↔6 and 6↔4

– Terminal box X11:

Terminals 1↔2, 2↔3 and 3↔1

3. The respective mean value from the three measurements corresponds to the

respective double phase resistance (star connection).
– Insert the mean values as R

and R

cold

into the following equation to

calculate the winding temperature ϑ
