The following chart gives a summary of this unit’s surround features. It also shows additional effects that can be used to enhance your enjoyment.
« Ail the features are only effective if speakers are used. No discernible effect will be heard through headphones,
® None of the features are effective when radio is selected as the source.
• You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these surround systems and effects are used with some sources. If this occurs, either
turn the surround system or effect off or reduce the level of the effect.

» Dolby Digital is a discrete 5.1 {6) channel
surround system developed for cinema
use.
The sound signals in Doiby Digital format
are compressed to 1/10 their original
size,'allowing an entire movie to be re­
corded on a single DVD.
® This unit automatically recognizes DVDs
that have been recorded with Dolby
Digital.
® Not all Dolby Digital sources are record­
ed with 5.1 (6) channels.
Some sources marked Dolby Digital may
be recorded in Dolby Surround, a 2
channel system.
Doiby Pro Logic is a decoding system that
was developed to get a better sense of
presence from sources encoded with
Dolby Surround. The feeling of position
has been improved by the addition of a
separate center speaker channel.
Software encoded with Dolby Digital can
be identified with this mark.
