e. Backlash Check of Differential Pinion and
Differential Side Gear
1. Set dial gauge at tooth surface of differential pinion
vertically.
2. With differential side gear seized, move pinion and
measure backlash.
3. If the measured exceeds allowable limits, adjust
backlash with differential washer of differential side
gear.
f. Types of Adjustment Shim
0.1 mm (0.004 in.) 0.2 mm (0.008 in.) 0.5 mm (0.020 in.)
