Choice of material

Knitted fabrics are elastic in all directions and should

be sewn with stretch stitches. Some fabrics may be
crocheted but should be sewn in exactly the same way.

Some examples of ordinary stretch fabrics are:
Light fabrics: Silk and cotton jersey (1).
Other fabrics: Velour, courteUe jersey, patterned and

stockinette stitched fabrics (2).

Do not forget that you can sew hand-knitted garments

on the machine.

It is as easy to sew leather, leather imitations (3) and

vinyl (4) as it is to sew ordinary fabrics. Some of these
may have a tendency to adhere to the presser foot. If you
are using the buttonhole presser foot, fit a glide plate
under the foot to remedy this. Otherwise, you should use
presser foot H, which is teflon-coated, to prevent friction
against leather and vinyl material.
