Straight stitching

When you switch on the main switch the machine will

automatically be set for straight stitching. If you have
been using the machine for another stitch, you can return
to the previous setting by pressing the push-button to the
right under the arrow.

Topstitching

For topstitching on lighter fabrics, fíne thread and

needle should generally be used.

When sewing thicker fabrics, you can use a coarser

thread to produce more pronounced topstitching.

The illustration opposite shows topstitching sewn with

ordinary thread and straight stitching, stitch length
2.5-6.

Topstitching should always be sewn on double fabric-

-some material may even require interfacing.

Parallel topstitching is possible by means of the twin

needle.

Edge stitching

When you wish to edge stitch, you should take advan

tage of the possibility to move the needle to one side of
the needle hole.

Fit presser foot A when sewing light fabrics and

presser foot D when sewing thicker material. Foot D is

designed with a groove underneath and you can utilize
the edge of the groove as a guide along the edge of the

fabric. Press the -f- push-button for the stitch width until
the needle reaches the left-hand eaze (6) of the needle
hole.

This setting is also suitable when sewing very close to

the edge or if you wish to pivot a comer. In such a case it
may be difficult for the feed teeth to hold the fabric
securely if the needle is at the center position.

If you wish to sew further in from the edge (approx. 4

mm) use presser foot A and set the needle to the right of
the needle hole. First press the push-button for the stitch

width until the needle reaches the left edge of the needle
hole and then press the mirroring button

When edge stitching thick, heavy fabrics, it is always

an advantage to increase the upper tension a couple of
grades in order to avoid thread loops occurring under
neath the fabric.
