Manual buttonholes

(For machine with and without

built-in buttonholer)

• Stitch Selection: Zig-zag (Pattern Disc 1)

• Stitch Width: (see illus.)

Width may be varied to sew narrower or
wider buttonholes

• Needle Position: ^

• Stitch Length: between 0 and 1

Note: For best results use the buttonhole foot

( L ) available for purchase at your

local Sewing Center.

Step 1. Side Stitching: Position needle in

fabric at point A. Lower foot and

stitch to end of marking.

Step 2. Leave needle in fabric at point B.

Raise foot and pivot work on needle.

Lower foot. Take one stitch without

changing width setting, bringing
work to point C.

Step 3. Bar Tack: Adjust stitch width

selector for bar tacks and take at
least six stitches. Stop at point D.

Step 4. Side Stitching: Readjust stitch

width selector for side stitching.

Complete work to point E. Leave

needle in fabric.

Step 5. Final Bar Tack: Adjust stitch width

selector for bar tacks, and take at

least six stitches ending at point F.
