3 Important Note

SimView Security and Privacy concerns

3.1

This document is meant to address concerns regarding SimView privacy and security.

Whose responsibility is it to secure the SimView Server?

3.2

The SimView server system is by default not configured with any firewall or antivirus software.
It is the customer's responsibility to install such software and to include the PC in the normal Domain
policies on the network. Furthermore, it is also the customer's responsibility to keep the PC's updated with
the latest security patches.
This is due to the fact that once the PC is installed at the customer site; Laerdal has no control over the PC
and therefore cannot be responsible for maintaining security.

Anti-virus and Firewalls

3.3

The PC is not supplied with an anti-virus program. Windows firewall is not activated by default. It is the
customer’s responsibility to protect the simulation system components from unauthorized access.
Tip! For more information on changing the firewall setting see the maintenance chapter (7).

Privacy

3.4

Content stored on the SimView server cannot be accessed without proper login credentials. Three types of
login exist to get access to the stored simulations. One type grants access to change the configuration,
delete files and edit logs and the other types only grants access to view the simulations and live video feed
without being able to change the configuration.
You can create as many users as needed on the system.
