Special System Setup Configuration
BUYSTL P
After you have configured the Site Controller, use this command to request a download of
Buypass information.
Note: You must coordinate your use of this command with your Buypass representative and
use this command before you can authorize cards through Buypass.
ENABLE PRODUCT
Buypass provides a feature that allows certain types of merchandise to be totaled separately
from the rest (this feature is for accounting purposes only, the customer is charged the same
rate). This feature can be used to select the categories like repairs.
Use the command ENABLE PRODUCT X 15, where X is the product number and 15
indicates the repair category. The feature works on postpay transactions only.
AVS
Address Verification Service (AVS) can be setup for the following cards:
• Visa
• MasterCard
• Discover
• American Express
The cards can be setup for using or not using AVS in the BUYPASS Configuration Menu,
using option ‘-Z’. When a card is setup for AVS, the system will prompt for a zip code on the
outside Automated Fuel Dispenser (AFD) reader. If the same card is used at the POS, the
system will not prompt for a zip code to be entered.
Modem Pre-dial
The bank modem can be setup for pre-dial using the ‘–F’option. If the modem pre-dial is
enabled, the modem will dial the host as soon as the card is swiped. If disabled, it will not start
dialing until the last prompt is displayed, when multiple prompts and entries are required.
To enable modem pre-dial, type BUYPASS –FY. To disable the option, type BUYPASS –FN.
To view the current pre-dial setting, type BUYPASS –F.
Debit Card Processing
Debit Cards are allowed for postpay sales, pre-authorizations and completions, and returns.
The Buypass network system now uses a Derived Unique Key Per Transaction (DUKPT)
method of key control and PIN block transfer to the host system. There is no key download for
processing this type of debit. The keys must be obtained from an authorized AFD company or
from the designated Buypass injection facility.
Note: To accept Debit Cards at the Profit Point, the Bank PIN DES parameter in SYS_PAR,
page 11, must be set to “YES”.
