No material must be layered on unfired
IPS Empress Universal Shade (paste), since this
would result in the IPS Eris for E2 layering ceramic
to delaminate.

Some blasting machines may require different
pressure settings to accomplish this procedure.

100 microns (Special Jet Medium, Ivoclar Vivadent) at 1 bar
(15 psi) pressure prior to the foundation firing. Clean with
steam and dry with oil-free air. Avoid any contamination from
this time onwards. Depending on the clinical situation and
available space, the foundation firing can be conducted in two
different ways.

Version a: Powder
If sufficient space is available, conduct the foundation firing
using the desired dentin shade (IPS Eris for E2 powder).
IPS Eris for E2 Build-Up Liquid of IPS Empress Universal Glaze
and Stain Liquid must be used for mixing. Apply a thin
uniform layer on the entire framework.

Version b. Paste
If space is limited or to increase the chroma from the depth,
IPS Empress Universal Shades can be used for the foundation
firing. Thin the desired IPS Empress Universal Shade (paste)
with the IPS Empress Universal Glaze and Stain Liquid to the
desired consistency. After that, apply a thin uniform layer on
the entire framework (even with the reduced layering
technique).

Select an individual firing program and set the correct firing
parameters and/or check them. Only use the IPS Empress
honey-combed tray and firing pins provided with the system.
Do not use silicon nitride support pins.
