Nexus PRO™ User Guide

2.5. Device Operation Mode

This section explains the configurations possible in the different modes. With dual radios, the airHaul

2

Nexus PRO allows for maximum operation flexibility.

2.5.1 Repeater Mode Configuration

Normally, to extend the WLAN coverage of an access point, a repeater site with 2 single radio
backhauls will be used in a Root and Remote combination. This results in a degradation of the link
efficiency which could be due to several reasons: a single link with larger spacing gives lower
bandwidth, the Remote might not be in line of sight, etc.

However, with the dual radio airHaul

2

Nexus PRO configured in Repeater Mode, it is possible to

extend WLAN coverage while still maintaining a higher bandwidth.

In the above diagram, we see that the airHaul

2

Nexus PRO configured in Root Bridge Mode is

servicing an Internet backbone. One radio (Radio A) is configured as Root and the other radio (Radio
B) is configured as a Remote Bridge or Remote Router/NAT. In such a scenario, the backhaul link can
span up to 50 miles (80 km).
