How to Configure Alerts and View Alert
Destinations

This section explains how to view alert destinations and configure alert settings for
the ILOM Service Processor.

An alert is information indicating that attention to the hardware or software is
needed. If a component malfunctions, a special packet is sent to a “listener” program
at a particular IP address. A malfunction might be a fan stopping, a component
overheating, a power supply failing, or a system monitoring threshold crossed.

You can configure up to 15 alert destinations. The service processor supports IPMI
Platform Event Traps (PETs). Alert rules are used to configure the severity level and
IP address destination to control delivery of the PETs.

9.6.1

Before You Begin

Log in to the service processor (SP) as Administrator or Operator to reach the ILOM
web GUI.

Only accounts with Administrator privileges are enabled to configure alert settings.
Operators (non-Administrator users) can only view the alert settings.
