A special case of the 1:2 Redundant System exists when an external reference is
required of the system. With an external 10 MHz reference input on each polarity input to the
system, the standby amplifier will not receive a reference signal and therefore would be in a
faulted condition. In this state, the redundant controller will not allow the standby amplifier to
come on line if a failure occurs with amplifier #1 or amplifier #3. See Figure 8-24.
