44 Start-up and Operation
When the startup of the Micro-PWC system network services is complete, the Micro-PWC Network Startup
window will close, and the Micro-PWC window that you opened will appear. If this is the System Window,
then the Process Alarm Window and Operator Window will also appear.
4.2 Stopping the Micro-PWC Software
The display portion of the Micro-PWC system software can be stopped by closing all of the Micro-PWC
system windows. This means the user interface is shutdown, while the the network service level continues
to operate. (The network service level of the software provides such functions as communication with the
instruments, data collection, and so on.) Alternatively, the Micro-PWC system software can be completely
shutdown by stopping both the display functions and the network service. Shutting down both the display
portion and the network service level in effect removes the Micro-PWC system from the network.
4.2.1 Closing the Micro-PWC System Windows
The Micro-PWC system windows can be closed from the System Window; select Menu > User > Exit. The
System Window Exit Options window will be displayed. In this window, click on the toggle button labelled
Close System Window and Other Micro-PWC
Windows. Click on Ok to complete the operation.
4.2.2 Stopping the Micro-PWC System Network Service
The Micro-PWC system network service will continue to run after all Micro-PWC system windows are
closed, and after you have logged off from Windows. (This allows process data to be collected and stored
even when no Micro-PWC system windows are open.) The Micro-PWC system Network Service can be
stopped in either of these two ways:
• To stop the Micro-PWC system Network Service and close all Micro-PWC system windows,
select Menu > User > Exit from the System Window. The System Window Exit Options window
will be displayed. In this window, click on the toggle button labelled Full Micro-PWC
Shutdown - Close All Micro-PWC Windows and Stop Micro-PWC Network Level. Click on
Ok to complete the operation. This is the preferred method of stopping the Micro-PWC
Network Service. It cannot be used from the capuser account, however (described in
Section
4.3 ). Login to the Windows operating system as Administrator to use this option.

• The Micro-PWC Network Service can be also stopped from the Windows Control Panel. This
may be done as follows:
Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services. In the Services window, select
Micro-PWC Network Level from the list of services, and then click the Stop button.
