To set up your new SNMP alert's information, use the following fields.

#### ranges from 0 to FFFF. A

compressed version of the same
IPv6 address is also supported.

DNS name—1 to 64 characters

including all alphanumeric

characters and the dash (-).

Port:

The port number is any valid and
available udp/tcp port number in the

range of [1;65535] (both inclusive). If

port is specified for an IPv6 address,
the IPv6 address must be enclosed in

[...]; for example,

[####:####::####]:162 to specify
port 162.

The management station IP address or

DNS name. Alert destination can be
specified in [protocol:]destination[:port]

format. Both protocol and port are

optional parameters.

Community String

0 to 20 characters including all
printable characters and the space

A text string that acts as a password. It is
used to authenticate messages that are

sent between HP management server

and Onboard Administrator.

NOTE:

While in FIPS mode ON/DEBUG, the SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 are disabled, and you can

create only SNMPv3 traps.

To configure the following fields, select the SNMPv3 check box:

User—The SNMP user account to be used to send the trap/inform. Desired user-engineID must be

created before the alert destination can be added.

Security—The security level used to send trap/inform. Security level options: No authorization or

encryption (noAuthNoPriv), Authorization but no encryption (authNoPriv), and Authorization and
Encryption (authPriv). The default is authNoPriv.

Inform Message—If an inform message is specified, the agent expects to a receive notification from the
management application that the trap has been received. The agent retries to send traps if no inform

acknowledgment is received. Alerts with Inform Message enable must have a remote user, which is

available on a management solution.
