RMON Overview

RMON, the internationally recognized network monitoring standard, is a network management
protocol that allows network information to be gathered at a single workstation. You can use
RMON probes to monitor and analyze a single segment only. When you deploy a switch on the
network, there are additional components in the network that cannot be monitored using
RMON. These components include the switch fabric, VLAN, and statistics for all ports.
